Well, we have been in full blown tarpon season for a while now. I have to admit, I’m kinda ready for them to leave. The days are long, and days off are non existent. Random cancellations pop up here and there, but it’s tough to find people to fish with on short notice. I have had a few good days […]
Tarpon Season
Mothershipping to Mingo in horrible winds.
It was tuesday evening, I had just gotten back from a quick freshwater tarpon session. I got call from Kent and Alex about mother shipping the yaks to mingo. Since the forecast was calling for 15-20 knot winds. I was skeptical at first but then gave in to temptation. I really dont know how we were able to cram in […]
Ok, Maybe This is a Bit Harder Than I Thought!
Tarpon Season brings a lot of guys down to the keys with a common goal. Chase Megalops up and down the banks with a long rod. This year, I’ve been able to meet and fish with a few guys from out of town that are here for that very reason.
Let’s go Full Circle
Back in 2008, I got the wild idea that I wanted to get into fly fishing. I mentioned this to a friend, and he laughed in my face. He mentioned that he had an old fly rod in the shed that he had bought years before, but could never figure it out, and that it was not worth the hassel…..
New Kid on the Blog
My name is Chris Lancaster and I hail from Tarpon, Texas. They changed it to Port Aransas back in the ’30s, but Tarpon, Texas sounds way cooler. Anyway, I picked up a fly rod when I was 12, and it’s been my weapon of choice ever since. I was actually born missing most of my right arm, but if you […]
Gramps got the Big Fish
Woke up today with some horrible back pains and had no intention on fishing. As I made my way to the kitchen to grab a pain reliever , my grampa asked me if I wanted to fish? I couldn’t say no due to the fact that my grampa is always working. He is the hardest working person I know, and is always […]
SWC Bahamas Trip 2013
Well, another year, another badass trip to the Bahamas. We had a great week with some great company. I miss it already, and am anxiously awaiting our return. The Bahamas is a special place…. boarding the plane in Miami and heading east is as close to going back in time as you can get. The flats are filled with all […]
Redfish Love Pink
The weather man was calling for low winds, but cloudy skies, so my buddy Ramiro and I made the two hour trek down to Everglades National Park. Only to be greeted by strong 20mph winds, so we headed for cover in disgust by the once again wrong forecast. The wind blew all morning, we kept at it and it paid […]
Kayak Concerto: Fly Fishing South Florida on the Kayak
Here’s what i’ve been working on lately. Join me on this Kayak quest through out the coastal waters of South Florida. Watch as I chase a complete cast of characters that we all love with a fly rod. The thrill of sight casting a trophy is what I live for. Thanks for watching I hope you enjoy it.
Easy Livin
The weather last week was perfect. Warm temps and blue skies, hard to ask for anything more. The caliber of the anglers on my boat and great fishing was just a bonus.
