My name is Chris Lancaster and I hail from Tarpon, Texas. They changed it to Port Aransas back in the ’30s, but Tarpon, Texas sounds way cooler. Anyway, I picked up a fly rod when I was 12, and it’s been my weapon of choice ever since. I was actually born missing most of my right arm, but if you ask me about it in person you’ll most likely get a dramatic story.Fist-fighting tiger sharks, retrieving a fly from a pissed off alligator… you get the idea.  Many people wonder how I lay a cast, strip a fly and reel in a fish with one hand. Well, I’ve never had to do it with two, so I can’t compare it to anything. I just make it work.  As long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with drawing and painting. My love for catching fish on hook and line led to my passion for bringing fish to life, one pen jot or brush-stroke at a time. With tarpon season fast approaching, the  fishing is heating up and school is winding down. I’ll be spending a lot of time doing what I love, both on the water, and at the easel. A big thanks to the crew at Skinny Water Culture for giving me the chance to post it up here for your enjoyment!
