As i start to prepare myself and gear to leave Little Cayman after almost 10 years im trying to put into words my experiences here, but i think the cliché “A picture is worth a thousand words” fits pretty well for this post. So here are a “few” of my shots from my time on this little island in the western Caribbean.
Little Cayman Island
Games of Chance. Games of Sport.
Some time ago, and with varying degrees of reluctance, I gave up the luxury of “let’s go fishing”. Capitalizing on bluebird days, nonexistent wind, perfect tides, a hot bite, or even being within 800 miles of a redfish with little or no notice is a thing of my past and currently an impossibility. Now my fishing days are few and […]
The “Grouper Hole”
The west end of Little Cayman Island or “the Grouper Hole” is an arrowhead shaped shelf that’s in about 110 feet deep with large coral formations and Barrel Sponges. An almost sheer ledge drops to 1,200 feet on three sides and continues to more than 5,000 feet deep. Just a half of a mile off the beach. On the perfect […]
A lake in the middle of the sea
Hello fellow anglers (bait chunkers and hunchbacks), I write to you from my little apartment on a very little island (19”39’35.89 N, 80″04’58.37 W ) This is my first attempt at a blog but not my first time writing, although you might think so. I am from Brandon, Fl and learned I needed to be near the water pretty early on […]
Bonefish w/the SWC Godfather and Gentlebro
I can’t do it justice….but here it goes. Vince, the godfather of SWC recently made the journey to the Keys to catch his first bonefish on fly. This was his only shot…one day, one chance to catch his first bone on fly before the big Bahamas trip. Luckily we had one of the finest guides in the Keys to make […]
NOLA
For a long time now I have been dreaming about going to New Orleans to fish the marsh for giant swamp donkey redfish. And, a little over a week ago, I finally made it happen. This trip has been a long time coming, and , was worth all the time, money, planning and effort. What a truly remarkable fishery they […]
Bluegill in the Salt??
Normally I don’t like a falling tide, especially if I’m fishing from the beach.
SWC Christmas Party at BarFly
As many of you know, the SWC Christmas Party at BarFly was last weekend. Would like to thank those that were able to make it out there. As well as thank those who made it happen. The party was a success. Collecting plenty of toys for children in need. It was a great positive atmosphere that involved a lot of […]
I am the Bassassinator!
Sorry Jay I had to steal that!
Stripers Forever?
This hits close to home. I grew up chasing these fish around the North East. Please check out this link and watch the video if you have a minute. These fish need a gamefish status everywhere. http://www.stripersforever.org/Info/index
