My friend Kent recently fixed his boat. We headed to the glades for it’s maiden inshore voyage. We did alright for a quick day on the water. Kent and alex caught some trout with tons of lady fish and jacks in the mix. Kent was using topwater spook and Alex was using paddle tails on a jig head. I figured […]
Quick Report 1/14/13
Anticipation
Thursday, I head out to New Orleans for a little redfishing min vacation. 3 days of fly fishing for monster reds deep in the marsh…. Stoked doesn’t even begin to describe what I am feeling right now. I have been trying to get to NOLA now for a long time now, glad it is all finally coming together. I hope […]
Let’s have a great day everyone!
Immediately after the Holidays, I knew I had to hit up the kayak. The high amount of calories had to come to an end. Losing weight is at the top of the list in everyone’s New Years resolution. This year, I am going to focus on shedding some pounds. Aside from that, I hope everyone is looking forward to this […]
SUP in the Everglades
I have been wanting a SUP (Stand Up Paddle board) for a long time. I basically have been treating my kayaks like a SUP for years standing and sight fishing from them. Recently a Bote HD paddle board showed up at the front door. My first trip with it I went 13.5 miles and it really wasn’t even that bad. […]
Marea Roja (Red Tide) & Seasons Greetings from Alabama!
Hello Skinny Water Culture, Paul Sonnen, here reporting from the northern Gulf Coast, and proud to be posting my first of many blogs here on the cyber net! I’m not the best at writing, but hopefully I’ll keep people entertained with large bribes and free booze…..not really, but promise an outlook of my passion for the sport and what drives […]
SWC Christmas Party Detour
Myself, Capt. Derek and DJ Dan decided to take a road trip to the mainland for the SWC Christmas party. We packed up the kayaks and fly rods and every other piece of fishing equipment you could fit into an F150. After a few many wrong turns we made it to the motel. Thank You Dan for being such a great […]
Big Pimpin
FINALLY!!! After four unsuccessful tries to get out on the water, this mofo dusted off the mask and headed out . I was so jacked packing up my gear I felt like I was in a “A Team” montage. Met up with a good friend who doesn’t mind poling me around in boat for a six pack and a whataburger breakfast on […]
Another Day…Another Dollar
I wasn’t sure about fishing today. I had been the last 3 days in a row. I woke up early and started thinking about tailing sheepshead from yesterday. Grabbed a Don Miguel’s beef steak and jalapeno burrito. Hitched the boat and took off to the glades! Second day in a row with a 32″ red…not too common for Everglades National […]
Tis the Season…
High winds, lower water temps and clouds…that seems to be the pattern this time of year. I have been searching far and wide trying to find some nice fish. Today we finally scored some good ones. A few nice reds and Dan’s first sheepie! I also pulled the hook on two sheepshead…man those things are tough and awesome! I’m really […]
Finding fish
Finding fish has been tough with the low tides and winds of the last week. Finding big fish has been almost impossible for me. That may be because I suck at fishing. That is all.
