SWC Year in Review
2022 was definitely one for the books for SWC when it comes to new products! We have been so busy the last few years developing so much and this year was the year that it all finally started to come together. Now that we are headed into the New Year, I wanted to take the time to reflect upon all that we have accomplished this year in regards to new, innovative products for our fishing family!
We started the year out with the public introduction of our 1st product in the hard goods category with the launch of the SWC Premium Pliers. The 6.5” deep anodized and hand polished plier features a stylish molded leather sheath, 304 stainless steel jaws, elastic lanyard, and replaceable titanium cobalt line cutters. They are very reasonably priced at 59.99 and they are just as beautiful as they are functional. They quickly became a hot item and they are now in regular rotation. Look for more hard goods in 2023 and beyond.
Next up was the introduction of our Drifter Drawstring Short. These are a comfort and leisure short with a bamboo and organic cotton liner that is built into the short so you don’t have to worry about underwear or boxers. Sprung from an idea a friend gave me for a beach stalking short, they were designed for comfort and anti chafing purposes while walking the beach in the Summer stalking Snook.
They are one of our quickest items to catch on in the history of our brand and we will be adding colors and a non lined version for 2023 called the Zephyr Short, so keep an eye on your local SWC Dealer this Spring!
Spring 2022 also debuted our revolutionary Oysterman Woven fishing shirt. This shirt was created with tropical temps in mind and it is the lightest and most breathable shirt in the fishing world because the super light and stretchy Air Mesh fabric technology which is perforated for ventilation. Did we mention that even though it’s perforated and incredibly breathable, that it also boasts a 50+ UPF sun protection rating?! With plastic snaps to prevent snags, a hidden sunglass cleaner and 2 hidden zip pockets big enough for a small fly box or your phone, this shirt is what the world has been waiting for. In Fall 22 we also introduced the Long Sleeve variant of the Oysterman Woven, and in 2023 we will be carrying over all of the great 22 colors as well as adding lots of new ones!
Fall 22 was the introduction of our new fishing/travel/leisure pant, the Drifter Pants. With an elastic waist band, and also belt loops (fisherman need belt loops), a hidden zippered pocket these pants are a dream on or off the water. The lightweight fabric is the same as our Drifter Drawstring Shorts, but also features Airmesh technology integrated throughout for exceptional ventilation. We really put a focus on tropical fishing temps this year, and it has resulted in a range of products for beating the heat and the harsh elements of the tropics.
Lastly, we introduced our amazing and minimalistic Oysterman Hoodie. This is the lightest and most breathable sun hoodie made for fisherman or otherwise, and we are blown away by how great they turned out. Anyone who holds one of these in their hands knows right away that we are onto something special. We tested them in the hot summer heat in the Keys, up and down the coasts of Florida, the Low Country, the Gulf Marshes and the Texas Coast down through Mexico and nothing compares. The Oysterman Hoodie will be our template for the future of beating tropical heat elements for fisherman who stay on the water all day everyday.
