You have until Sunday night at 8pm to tie the fly posted below to the best of your ability. Post it on Instagram with the hashtags #tieoneoff #hcft #skinnywaterculture. Or post it directly to our Tie One Off posts on the SWC or HCFT Facebook pages. The winner will be selected at random, quality of the fly does not matter as long as you put forth the effort.

For this month’s Tie One Off challenge we will walk you through a version of Cheechs Low Fat Minnow.
Materials list
Hook – 2/0 Gamakatsu S15
Thread – 210 Denier Florescent Green (Your choice in color)
Body – Orvis Marabou Medium Yellow
Head – Senyos Laser Dub, White
Start your thread at the middle of the shank and working back to the bend of the hook.
Grab your Marabou and and trim the edges off the shaft of the feather. Number of feathers trimmed depends on desired fly size. For this fly I trimmed 4 feathers.
Even up your trimmed feathers and make sure to pull out all lose ends and shorter trimmed parts. Take your feathers and tie them onto the top part of the hook.
Synch down tight on the feathers and secure them to the shank. Advance your thread just ahead of the feathers. Take your laser dub and take a small amount and even it up so there are no loose ends to the material. Tie your laser dub to the top of the shank and distribute it evenly on both sides of the hook. This covers the shank and any void space between the marabou and the laser dub.
Fold back the laser dub evenly back over itself. Tying thread over the head the the laser dub and in front.
Rotate your vise and repeat this process on the bottom side of the hook.
Again, repeat this process on the top part of the hook. Tie off your fly with a whip finish and hit it with some Hard as Hull. Add eyes of desired, and you’re done.
This fly is great for beach side Tarpon, especially this time of the year.
